Who We Are

Welcome to the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art evidence-based surgical care for head and neck tumors, reconstructive head and neck surgery, upper airway surgery, and treatments for conditions affecting the ears, hearing, and balance. Our Head and Neck Surgical Oncology, and the Otology/Neuro-Otology Programs employ a multidisciplinary approach in order to deliver highly personalized care to our patients.

Vision

Our vision is to be world leaders in the fields of Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Microsurgery and Otologic Surgery. We will advance the field by ground breaking research and training the next generation of otolaryngologists, subspecialists in head and neck oncologic and reconstructive surgery, otology, neuro-otology, and skull base surgery.

Mission

Our goal is to help you and your support team cope successfully with your diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation. We will consult with you at all stages so that you know what to expect and how to deal with each step along the way.

Trainee Education

Our commitment to education includes teaching undergraduate and postgraduate trainees, as well as other health care professionals. We are a part of the forefront of medical education for our specialty at the undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education levels.

Medical Education

The Division of Head and Neck Surgery has a significant role in Undergraduate Education at the University of Toronto. The University offers core and elective experience for its undergraduate Medical Students.

Residency Program

UHN is one of seven hospitals and health centres that Residents rotate through. Residents will be trained in the modern medical, surgical and treatment methods and gain exposure to UHN’s sub-specialties in head and neck surgical oncology, and surgical otology.

Fellowship Program

Head & Neck Surgery, at UHN offers a variety of clinical and research fellowships. Fellows are exposed to a mix of cases and may participate in elective rotations, lecture series, journal clubs, institutional rounds and conferences.
